Good alternative to MQM mid boot

Comfortable out the box! I loved the MQM mid boots and put over 400 miles on them and was hoping to buy a new pair but they are no longer being made :(. These are similar in weight and construction and almost as comfortable. I’ve tried the Moabs and find them to be a little too heavy and not as comfortable as the synthetic boots. Wore these on a 9 mile hike without doing any break in and had no real issues. I would recommend wearing mid rise socks to protect from some chafing at the boot top.

Not so good as I expected

These shoes are much warmer than I expected. My feet felt hot in a store. I honestly can’t imagine wearing them in summer or during hikes in the mountains — they would be too warm.
The outsole is also quite slippery on ice, which was disappointing considering they are marketed as outdoor / winter-friendly shoes.
After about a one-hour walk, my feet felt tired, especially because of the high collar. The mid-height design puts pressure around the ankles and becomes uncomfortable over time.
Overall, they might work for short walks in cold weather, but they were not a good fit for my needs.

Broke them in. Tight fit. Dirtied them up. Great treads and hardy eyes for the laces. Double knot to stop tripping on your own two foots.

I bought these because I will be in Germany outside during winter and needed something warm and waterproof. I bought this model specifically because they are vegan friendly, and I don’t buy anything made of leather. I’ve been wearing these all winter and they are the best hiking and walking boot I’ve ever had. They were comfortable from day 1, very warm, even down into the teens, and they seem very waterproof as well. I wholeheartedly recommend them. I’m only going to buy Merrells from now on - I love all my various Merrell shoes.

These boots fit well and were quite comfortable but they are not waterproof. I paid $179 and had to return them as they are not waterproof at all. When I returned them the price had dropped to $159 I was only refunded the $159 not $179 I had paid for them. I bought another pair of boots which were suppose to stretch but they have not and at this point boots have been warn but don’t fit and I cannot return them. I won’t be returning to your store. I had to return a pair of runners earlier as they fell apart in less than 3 months.

Comfortable, Supportive, and Truly Waterproof

The quality of these Merrell hiking shoes is excellent. I have pretty narrow feet and was worried they might be too wide, but they fit perfectly - not too snug and not loose. The laces do a great job tightening the shoe securely. They’re very comfortable with great cushioning and solid support for my feet and ankles. I’ve worn them in the snow while walking my dogs and even while shoveling, and my feet stayed completely dry. Overall, these are reliable, comfortable hiking shoes, and I will absolutely buy them again.
