Excellent Staff, Disappointing Company Policy
I want to be clear that the sales associate provided excellent service and treated me professionally. My concern is with the company’s ordering and transfer process. Because the store did not have the shoe in stock and I was uncertain which size would fit, I ordered two sizes for transfer from another location. I was required to pay in full for both pairs before receiving or trying them on, even though the shoes were being sent to another Shoe Company store and would remain in the company’s possession. What was most disappointing was that meaningful action appeared to occur only after I submitted a formal complaint. Following my complaint, the shoes were shipped within 72 hours. While I appreciate the quick response once the matter was escalated, it raises a serious question: what would have happened had I not complained? Customers should not have to chase the company or file a formal complaint after paying in full. There should be a clear transfer date, reliable status updates, and a defined process for cancelling the order and receiving a prompt refund if the merchandise cannot be delivered within the stated timeframe. The issue is not simply how quickly the company responded to my complaint. The issue is why a complaint was necessary in the first place. A customer who has paid for merchandise should not feel that the company is holding both the products and the customer’s money indefinitely. Again, the associate was excellent. My dissatisfaction is with a policy and process that placed all the uncertainty and financial burden on the customer. I would rate the experience two stars, while explicitly stating that the associate deserved five stars. That accurately recognizes his service without minimizing the larger problem.
