Bogs Men's Arcata Leather Mid Boot

Very comfortable, warm boots for walking to work in New England, especially after the leather upper has broken in. Roomy toebox which is nice for someone like me with a wide forefoot. The sole is very comfortable and grippy, my only small issue is that the grooves in the boot that make it so grippy on snow also happen to be very good at trapping snow and ice when you bring them inside, much more so than other winter boots. Even after a few hard stomps and taps I still get a hefty puddle around the shoes once I come inside.

The boots are warm and waterproof. I get compliments when I wear them. They've done beautifully so far. Already making memories with them as they've helped me trudge through 2-3 feet of snow to cut down our Christmas tree. My feet stayed warm and dry. So far they've outperformed other very popular big brand boots I've owned. Also, I really appreciate the very roomy toe box. BOGS hit me up about doing an honest review product swap. The boots are replacing some older Bogs that were 10-plus years old that I had been repairing but finally gave out. They are very comfortable, warm, and waterproof. I wear them every morning, walking the dog. Minneapolis can be cold, wet, and slippery. These have been great. They are lightweight but still feel very stable. The old version had eyelets all the up. These have hooks for the top two, which will last longer and make them easier to get on and off. I am very pleased with these

Really impressed with the look, feel and quality of this boot. It's appears well made and I expect it to last. I have not had it in very cold conditions but did wear it snow shoeing around 20F and my feet stayed warm. At 20F without expending that energy they were still good and warm, but I have a suspicion that much below that they would not be as warm as I would need. Other boots I have that perform well at those Temps are much thicker and seem to have more insulation, but like I said, no actual experience there yet. They are indeed waterproof and have performed well in heavy 30F rain and in slush. Typically wear 9.5 butt needed a 10. I also prefer shoes with a little more room in the toe box, these have it but 9.5 just didn't feel like enough space for socks and free toe movement. Good luck.

I really wanted to like these as there are not many men's options for this segment. I liked the style of these and the specs. I am an avid hiker and needed something waterproof and warm for hiking in the Tetons. The boots gave me a rub sore while wearing thick wool socks due to a non smooth surface that sticks out inside the boot right on my ankle. It is part of the thick black plastic that wraps around the ankle on the outside. This was after wearing them one day and doing minimal walking to and from my office to the parking lot. I had previously worn them around the house and to a few places for a week or two to try and break them in. They just hurt to wear them which shouldn't be the case with such little use. The tread on the heel also felt uneven, which honestly made me worry I would roll my ankle.

There is not enough room to express my love for these boots. Warm, dry, aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean. I've worn these for two weeks straight and will likely wear these through the winter. Hopefully they'll still be available when I need a new pair!!! Love the sole, love the leather, and especially love the rubber kick plate on the heel which keeps from scuffing when taking them off without hands. This pair of boots is perfect for daily use, wet or dry weather.

Great looking boot. The quality is fantastic, above grade materials and well-constructed with no flaws. The fit is very good and runs a little large for the width. Thicker socks would take up that slight additional volume. The boot is not quite a Wide but close. I really like that it is waterproof, has an aggressive traction soul and especially the felt type liner. It is very warm and comfortable. I would definitely buy another pair.

Bogs to date have made comfortable and durable footwear. Many brands are designing soles that the exterior material wears out prematurely. The 1/4" to 3/8" thick sole lugs on the Arcata boot are misleading. When held to light inner sole foam is seen (dark material contrast to light contrasted exterior sole material). So in actuality, it appears to be constructed of only less than a 1/8" of actual durable sole material when angled to light (planned obsolescence)? The reality the sole is not as durable as earlier Bogs I have purchased with solid sole lugs, offering great durability and value. I have had these boots only a few days, but anticipate poor durability. They are comfortable except for the inner top lacing metal rivet also chafing ankle. I likely would not order this model again. If Bogs continues to make planned obsolescence soles, they will also lose me as a customer.
